A total of 161 students crossed the stage to receive diplomas at Schreiner University’s 102nd Spring Commencement on Friday, May 9, on the front lawn of the Cailloux Campus Activity Center.  The total included 27 graduate degrees, 122 undergraduates, and two associate degrees.

The ceremony began with a ceremonial flyover by Schreiner Aviation students.  The San Antonio Pipes & Drums and Schreiner University Concert Band led by the Academic Procession of University officials, professors, and instructors.  Dr. G. Matthew Robinson, Associate Professor of Exercise Science & Sport Management, and recipient of the 2025 Harriet Garrett Award for Teaching Excellence, led the degree candidates.

Following the invocation, presentation of colors, national anthem, and ceremonial firing of the cannon, Dr. Charlie T. McCormick, President of Schreiner University, delivered the welcome and introduced the commencement speaker, Caitlin Leal, Class of 2021, who is Wish Discovery Manager of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Valedictorian Chloe Mills, BFA in Graphic Design, delivered the response for graduates.  Following a film tribute to the Spring Class of 2025, Board of Trustees member and President of the Former Students Association, Manuel Cappella, ’68, welcomed the new alumni.

Earlier in the day, the Nursing Program hosted a pinning ceremony at the Junkin Campus Ministry Center.  The 19 candidates in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Class of 2025were honored and recognized for their achievements.
