The Fredericksburg Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Methodist Hospital/Hill Country, will host a prescription drug take-back day on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center, 1601 E. Main St., in Fredericksburg. No needles or liquids will be accepted during this event.  For more information, contact FPD at its non-emergency number.

On April 22, at approximately 8 p.m., Kerr County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division and Kerrville EMS were dispatched to the 100 Block of Keagan Drive South, outside of Hunt, for the report of a shooting.  When deputies and Kerrville EMS arrived, 54-year-old Scott Bender was found deceased. Jefferson Street and Hays Street will be temporarily closed to thru traffic between Francisco Lemos Street, Quinlan Street and Schreiner Street beginning Sunday, April 27 at 7 a.m. through Monday, April 28 at 8 a.m., weather permitting.
