KPD concludes Holiday Selective Traffic Enforcement Program

The Kerrville Police Department has concluded the Holiday Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, a grant funded enforcement initiative in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation.  The program, which ran from December 16, 2024 through January 1, 2025, aimed to deter unsafe driving and reduce accidents through the Christmas and New Year's holidays.  During this enforcement period, the Kerrville Police Dept. conducted 60 traffic stops, 42 of which were for speeding. Gillespie County issues burn ban

Gillespie County Judge Daniel Jones, at the urging of Fire Marshal Steve Olfers and area volunteer fire department chiefs, initiated a burn ban on January 3 due to continuing dry conditions.  The ban is for 90 days, or until the Commissioners Court determines that the circumstances no longer apply.  Violating the burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, which can result in a fine of up to $500. ERCOT issues Weather Watch through Friday, Jan. 10
