Kerr County details limited burn ban order

Temporary pause on volunteer efforts with Hunt firefighters

Firefighters in Hunt have announced that they will not require volunteer assistance for the next several days.  The Volunteer Fire Department shared on social media that no volunteers are needed through Tuesday. Volunteers for relief efforts are welcome to return on Wednesday, July 30.  Volunteers should report to the pavilion at Preservation Park to be dispatched.  (Next to Hunt store)

Beacon of Hope set to open Aug. 4 in Kerrville

Mercy Chefs, a Virginia-based relief organization, announced the opening of a long-term recovery kitchen in Kerr County following the Fourth of July floods.  It is expected to open by August 4. The Beacon of Hope kitchen will be located at the Light on the Hill at Mount Wesley, 610 Methodist Encampment Road in Kerrville.  The kitchen will serve fresh, chef-prepared meals through December 2025. FOR man stabbed to death by son

An elderly man was stabbed to death on Saturday morning, allegedly by his son during an argument, according to authorities.  Bexar County Sheriff's investigators said a 71-year-old man was found dead from multiple stab wounds and a kitchen knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the sink inside the residence. Kerrville City leaders say there will be total transparency regarding possible tax rates

Community Foundation announces plans to release $4.4 million to aid flood recovery

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country announced Tuesday that it has raised $60 million from people across the U.S. following the July 4 floods.  Austin Dickson, the foundation's CEO, stated that donations are made possible by the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, which was implemented on July 4, 2025.
