City of Fredericksburg announces temporary road closures

The City of Fredericksburg Street Dept. will close West Live Oak Street from Kerr Road to Post Oak Road on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 4-5 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to improve the road surface. To help ensure continued access, the temporary road connecting Smokehouse Road to Windcrest will be reopened during these hours. Public hearings set for next week in Gillespie County

The Fredericksburg City Council and Gillespie County Commissioners Court set public hearings for the proposed increases in tax rates. The City will hold its hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the new City Hall East Campus. The county will have its hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8 at the county courthouse, 101 W. Main St., in Fredericksburg.

FEMA extends flood assistance deadline for flood victims to Sept. 28

Due to the extensive flood destruction from the July 4 floods, FEMA has granted a request from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to extend the deadline to request flood assistance.  People affected by the Hill Country floods now have until Sept. 28 to apply.
