City of Kerrville Public Works employees Morgan Vollmar and Marcus Mader recently recovered a 1990 Kansas State University class ring while inspecting the city's wastewater collection system.  Persistent sleuthing by Assistant Wastewater Collections Superintendent Louis Fender uncovered that the ring belonged to KSU alumni Randy Fox, now a Washington state resident who lived and worked in Kerrville in the mid-1990's and lost the ring in 1996. TEA launches new hotline for students experiencing homelessness

Students experiencing homelessness in Texas will now have access to resources, support and more after the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced Wednesday it launched a new hotline. Free College Application Week Oct. 13-19

A new Texas law passed during the 80th Texas Legislature has expedited the college application process for one week in October.  Senate Bill 2231 waives application fees for all public colleges and universities for Texas residents. The law states Oct. 13-19 will be Free College Application Week. Students must apply online through Apply Texas and have their fees waived, which typically range from $50 to $90 per school.

USA Cycling Texas State Championship to take place at Kerrville Mountain Bike Festival

The fifth annual Kerrville Mountain Bike Festival will occur at Kerrville-Schreiner Park, 2385 Bandera Hwy., on Oct. 25-26, 2025.  The Texas Hill Country Mountain Bike Association, a local group led by owners of Hill Country Bicycle Works, Lisa and Adam Salladin, organizes the Kerrville Mountain Bike Festival. Tickets still available for Boerne concert which benefits Hunt Volunteer Fire Dept.

Suspect accused of stealing cars from Boerne car dealership sentenced to four years

A suspect accused of stealing at least two Corvettes has been sentenced to four years behind bars.  Jose Israel Barrera Jr., 36, of San Antonio, has been sentenced to four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after accepting a plea agreement on two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and unlawful carrying of a weapon.  Barrera was also ordered to pay $32,577.04 in restitution, including $10,077.04 to […]
