KCAS confirms 14th rabies case of 2024

Kerr County Animal Services has confirmed the county's 14th case of rabies this year.  KCAS was called on Sunday, August 11, with a report of a sick kitten that had bit a property owner in the 3000 block of TX-27 (Memorial Boulevard).  Officers collected the specimen and sent it to the lab the same day for testing. Texas AG opens investigation into Center point following its Hurricane Beryl response

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Monday his office has opened an investigation into CenterPoint Energy, claiming its conduct during Hurricane Beryl may have violated Texas law.  Officials said the investigation will look into allegations of fraud, waste, and improper use of taxpayer-provided funds.  "If the investigation uncovers unlawful activity, that activity will be met with the full force of the law," Paxton said in a statement. KPD conducted 275 traffic stops during recent Operation Slowdown

The Kerrville Police Department has concluded the Operation Slowdown initiative in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, which ran from July 19 through August 7.  The goal of the initiative was to deter speeding and speeding accidents in Kerrville and to help drivers become more aware of their driving habits.
