The City of Fredericksburg Street Dept. will close West Live Oak Street from Kerr Road to Post Oak Road on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 4-5 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to improve the road surface. The Fredericksburg City Council and Gillespie County Commissioners Court set public hearings for the proposed increases in tax rates. The City will hold its hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the new City Hall East Campus. The county will have its hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8 at the county courthouse, 101 W. Main St., in Fredericksburg.

Due to the extensive flood destruction from the July 4 floods, FEMA has granted a request from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to extend the deadline to request flood assistance.  People affected by the Hill Country floods now have until Sept. 28 to apply.
