Students experiencing homelessness in Texas will now have access to resources, support and more after the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced Wednesday it launched a new hotline. A new Texas law passed during the 80th Texas Legislature has expedited the college application process for one week in October.  Senate Bill 2231 waives application fees for all public colleges and universities for Texas residents. The law states Oct. 13-19 will be Free College Application Week. Students must apply online through Apply Texas and have their fees waived, which typically range from $50 to $90 per school.

The fifth annual Kerrville Mountain Bike Festival will occur at Kerrville-Schreiner Park, 2385 Bandera Hwy., on Oct. 25-26, 2025.  The Texas Hill Country Mountain Bike Association, a local group led by owners of Hill Country Bicycle Works, Lisa and Adam Salladin, organizes the Kerrville Mountain Bike Festival. The City of Kerrville and its contractor, Marksman General Contractors, will be closing Water Street in the vicinity of the AC Schreiner house on Wednesday, Oct. 15 to repair the road for the utility cut of the fire line to the Schreiner house. The "Hope for Hunt" concert, which benefits the Hunt Volunteer Fire Department, is set for October 18 in Boerne.  The department will use the proceeds to purchase equipment and cover training costs.  The other portion of the proceeds will go towards the Hunt Preservation Society.
