Kerr County and the Upper Guadalupe River Authority say new sirens and other recent upgrades to the area's flood warning system helped keep the public informed amid flooding last week. The Center Point Volunteer Fire Department is once again rebuilding after floodwaters tore through its station last week, damaging equipment and the building itself. Kerr County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Mitzi French has announced that hearings which were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, have been postponed. The change is due to flooding at the courthouse and the need to temporarily relocate operations. Severe damage in the lower area of the Kerr County Courthouse means the facility itself, located at 700 Main Street in Kerrville, will be closed to the public for the unforeseeable future. Kerrville Pets Alive! is working to help families reunite with their pets who were displaced by the recent floodwaters. The nonprofit mobilized staff and volunteers have launched an emergency flood pet response, creating a centralized database where residents can report lost or found pets and request assistance. Gillespie County Judge Daniel Jones issued a disaster declaration Thursday morning following significant flooding across the Perdanales River Basin. More than 30 rescues were conducted Thursday morning, between 5-9 a.m. by emergency responders from Fredericksburg and other local agencies.
