Kerr County approves new budget with nearly 5% property tax rate cut following floods

Kerr County Commissioners' convened on Monday to address several agenda items. Commissioners approved the new "no new revenue" budget rate of 40.24 cents per $100 of property value.  A nearly 5% decrease from the current rate.  Several commissioners said they were not fond of the budget but had to get it done.  The fiscal year begins on Oct. 1.  Next year's budget is about $11 million short but to cover […]

FEMA to close one of its Kerr County disaster recovery centers this week

Holiday Lighted Parade registration opening soon

Starting Wednesday, Sept. 10, the Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department will begin accepting float entries for the 24th annual Holiday Lighted Parade.  This favorite holiday tradition will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, at approximately 6 p.m. in Downtown Kerrville. KCSO arrests man following string of vehicle thefts

A man was arrested on multiple charges following a string of vehicle thefts, the Kerr County Sheriff's Office said.  Marcus Taylor, 34, was arrested on charges related to theft, burglary, evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance, according to the KCSO. The Texas Workforce Commission has extended the deadline for Disaster Unemployment Assistance applications after receiving federal approval, according to a news release.  Those seeking unemployment assistance will now have until Sept. 29 to submit applications.
