Individuals who have received a decision  for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have 60 days to appeal.  Following the July 2026 floods in the Hill Country, 33 counties were designated for FEMA assistance. Kerr County Court-at-Law has announced that hearings scheduled Wednesday, July 23 and Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28-29, have been postponed.  This is due to flooding in the courthouse and the need to temporarily relocate offices. Notices will be sent with new date and location as soon as the hearings are rescheduled. For more information visit kerrcountytx.gov.

Residents who have been displaced by the recent flooding and need a safe, cool place to stay can visit Kerr County's flood disaster relief shelter, located at Cavalry Temple Church, 3000 TX-534 Loop in Kerrville. The shelter is open 24 hours a day with meals provided.  No pets are allowed. For more information call (830) 895-3000.

The Kerr County Clerk's Office is set to reopen starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 23.  The office's temporary location is at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 TX-27 in Kerrville. Flood recovery efforts continue across Kerr County, and Kerrville Pets Alive! says more pets are being reunited with their families. KPA! reports that its lost and found database now lists 14 pets are still missing, 11 pets have been found safe and 12 have been reunited with their owners. Anyone who lost a pet is encouraged to submit a report through the organization's online database at kerrvillepetsalive.org.

The Kerr County Tax Office reopened Wednesday, July 22, at its satellite office at the West Kerr County Courthouse Office, 510 College Street in Ingram.  The office will be open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information call (830) 792-2241.

In an emergency meeting Wednesday, Kerr County Commissioners voted 4-0 to extend a local disaster declaration.  The order was first signed by Judge Rob Kelly July 16. Commissioners also approved extending the suspension of the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act for an additional 7 days, as well as suspending a portion of the Texas Local Government Code, which has to do with timelines for county plat applications.
